Hubka, who is originally from the East Coast but now resides in Los Angeles, has delighted jazz fans with her pure and uniquely shaded voice, impeccable singing technique and wonderful seven-string guitar playing, all represented in her thoroughly conceived and superbly executed studio recordings such as Look No Further, You Inspire Me, and Goes To The Movies.
She has become very popular in Japan after her previous CDs were released through SSJ Records, and this live CD --her first -- was recorded in Tokyo during her first tour in that country. Supported by a trio of sensitive, swinging and eminently capable Japanese players, Hubka dazzled the Japanese audience with her intelligent improvisations, understated emotions and energy that can be created only in "live" settings. A delightful vocal album. Heartily recommended!
