| Artist/Band: | | Chet Baker | | Name: | | I Remember You - The Legacy, Vol. 2 [SHM-CD] | | Cat No.: | | GQCP-59035 | | Performed by: | | Chet Baker (piano,trumpet,vocal) Doug Raney (guitar) Jesper Lundgaard (bass) Aage Tanggaard (drums)
| | Release Date: | | 08/20/2008 | | Description: | | Beginning in 1995, Enja Records of Germany released a series of Chet Baker's previously unreleased materials and called it "The Legacy" series. The four hard-to-find albums are now reissued by Universal Japan on a brand-new SHM-CD format that offers superior sound and is compatible with all regular CD players.
Second in the series is I Remember you, an informal live set recorded at Cafe Montmartre in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1985. Baker is assisted ably and tastefully by the piano-less trio of Doug Raney (son of Jimmy Raney) on guitar and two Danes -- Jesper Lundgaard on bass and Aage Tanggard on drums.
Baker sings and plays his favorite tunes like "But Not For Me," "You Go To My Head" and "Just Friends" in front of an enthusiastic audience. "Broken Wing" is a composition by Richie Beirach, and "Nardis" by Miles Davis excites the audience to a boiling point. For the first time, we can listen to this recording with a clearer, more analog-like sound of SHM-CD. It also includes the original English liner notes. A must-own recording for fans of Chet Baker!
Recorded live on February 28, 1985 at Cafe Montmartre, Copenhagen, Denmark. Originally released by Enja Records in 1996. This Japanese, limited SHM-CD edition was released by Universal Japan on August 20, 2008. | | Eastwind Import Price: | |
