The trumpet legend's last recording may well be his greatest. For this ambitious concert, a quintet was backed by an 18-piece big band AND a 43-piece symphony orchestra.
The large production never overwhelmed the lyricism of Baker's trumpet, thanks to the sensitive, effective yet understated arrangements. What you find here is profound beauty and lifetime of music.
