His underexposure is partly due to his decision to concentrate on film music production for a better part of the 1990s, but he has recorded quite a few great albums for Germany's Enja Records since the late 1970s and after his "comeback" in 1998. This is one of the four Enja albums -- now considered classics -- reissued by Universal Music Japan on its brand-new SHM-CD format that offers superior sound and is compatible with all regular CD players. The Talk Of The Town was recorded in 1993, shortly before Wallace moved to Hollywood and took a leave from the front lines of the jazz scene. Displaying truly unique style based on influences from Coleman Hawkins, Sonny Rollins and Eric Dolphy and strong original compositions, Wallace reached a pinnacle of his career with this record. For the first time, this important record is heard with the clear, high-resolution sound of the SHM-CD. This CD also comes with full Englisn liner notes. Recommended! Produced by Bennie Wallace and Roger Rhodes. Recorded in January 1993 at Capitol Studios, Hollywood. Originally released by Enja Records in 1993.
