First, she assembled a veritable all-star band to back her up, including Cyrus Chestnut, Eric Alexander, Jeremy Pelt, Romero Lubambo, Carl Allen and Ray Drummond! Then she selected the best songs from her wonderfully eclectic repertory, including "Doozy" by Benny Carter, a few Brazillian classics from Antonio Carlos Jobim, and the beautiful "Solamente Una Vez" sung in Spanish.
Ryan has it all as a jazz singer. Her voice is beautiful, and her style is expressive and dramatic. She has amazing chops, as demonstrated in her impeccable rendition of "Dat Dere," and her ballad singing has the power to deeply move the listener. She is at the top of her game right now, and I have no doubt that this will be her break-out album. Strongly recommended to all fans of vocal jazz!
