Description:Bethlehem Rare Reissue Series!

Bethlehem Records was established in New York by a Swiss-born Gustav Wildi in 1953, and released a wide variety of high quality jazz albums before it was sold in 1963. Not long after establishing the headquarters, Wildi opened an office in California and began recording on both coasts, which greatly contributed to the variety and depth of its cagalogue.

Four Horns And A Lush Life, recorded in Los Angeles, features four tromboninsts -- Frank Rosolino, Herbie Harper, Tommy Pederson, and trumpeter Maynard Ferguson on valve trombone -- and an all-star West Coast rhythm section. The star of the show, however, may have been arranger and conductor Russ Garcia who had a brilliant and effective idea to add a baritone sax to add texture and warmth to the sound of four trombones.

Full of great arrangements and inspired playing, this is a swinging, breezy and happy album that typifies the West Coast style of jazz. Recommended!

Recorded in Los Angeles on November 14, 1955. Mono. This reissue CD was released in Japan by Solid Records in 2013.
