Description:Ruth Price is known nowadays, at least in Los Angeles, as the nurturing and sharp-minded manager of the non-profit jazz theater The Jazz Bakery. After being forced to close the doors in 2007 due to the end of a lease, she has continued to present high quality jazz in the form of a "movable feast" in different venues, and is on her way to reopen the premier jazz institution in Southern California.

Before she took that job, Price was a jazz singer, best known for her albums recorded in the 1950s and the 1960s. The present album, made before she moved to the West Coast, is an early recording that showcases her somewhat unconventional, conversational style and her willingness to take chances stylistically as wellas in terms of song selection. Backing her on most songs are the piano trio led by Lou Stein. Joe Newman (trumpet), Frank Wess (sax) and Tony Mottola (guitar) join the trio on two songs arranged by Manny Albam.

Originally released by Kapp Records. Recorded in 1955 in New York. This reissue CD was released by Universal Music Japan in 2012. 24-bit digital remastering. Mono.
