| Artist/Band: | | Erena Terakubo | | Name: | | New York Attitude | | Cat No.: | | KICJ-615 | | Performed by: | | Erena Terakubo (alto sax) Kenny Barron (piano) Ron Carter (bass) Lee Pearson (drums) Dominick Farinacci (flugelhorn,trumpet)
| | Release Date: | | 06/22/2011 | | Description: | | Alto saxophone wunderkind, Erena Terakubo blew us all away when she debuted last year at a tender age of 17 with a stunning fist album North Bird, recorded in New York with superstar musicians Kenny Barron, Christian McBride, Lee Pearson and Peter Bernstein.
For her highly anticipated sophomore album, Erena returned to New York and reunited with pianist Kenny Barron and drummer Lee Pearson. Two additional members were legendary bassist Ron Carter and young trumpeter Dominick Farinacci. Not bad!
Just like her first album, producer Yasohachi Itoh did not skimp on the production: He returned to the prestigious Avatar Studioand took the best Sony engineers to the studio to record the sessions in pure DSD. The result is, again, a stunning, powerful album that is full of exciting moments. Highlights include the opening Barron composition and title track, and the three tracks where Farinacci joins to create a two-horn frontline. Very highly recommended!
Also, if you haven't heard Erena Terakubo before, you MUST check out her first album, too!
Recorded at Avatar Studio, New York, on April 18 & 19, 2011. Although recorded in DSD, this is a redbook CD and is playable on standard CD players. | | Eastwind Import Price: | |
