Description:Reissued on CD for the first time!
Japan-only CD reissue of Crown Records jazz albums!
Limited paper sleeve edition!

P-Vine Records of Japan should be congratulated for digging deep into the vaults of Crown Records, a Los Angeles-based label that existed from 1957 to 1972, and reissuing a series of great jazz albums, many of which had never been reissued on CD!

Bud Shank (1926-2009) arguably embodied the sound of West Coast jazz on alto saxophone (and flute) more than anybody else. Reissued on CD for the first time, this album, originally released by Crown Records, is a compilation of three sessions recorded in the 1950s. Tracks 1, 2 and 4 are from 1954 and, interestingly, features Bob Enevoldsen, Maynard Ferguson and Stu Williamson on valve trombone, plus a stellar rhythm section of Claude Williamson, Joe Mondragon and Shelly Manne. These all-stars play brilliant arrangements by Bob Cooper.

Track 3 was recorded in 1959 in an intimate one-horn quartet setting, with Billy Bean on guitar, Gary Peacock on bass and Chuck Flores on drums. Tracks 5, 6 and 7 are from 1956 and features Claude Williamson, Don Prell and Flores. All in all, this is a brilliant album and a must-have for fans of Bud Shank and West Coast jazz!

Recorded on June 22, 1954 (Tracks 1, 2, 4), November 1956 (Tracks 5, 6, 7) and April 18, 1959 (Track 3).
