Description:A very rare vinyl reissue! A true collector's item!

Japanese independent jazz label Atelier Sawano has been reissuing very rare vinyl LPs originally released by Tempo Records, often referred to as the Blue Note of Great Britain. The seventh such reissue title is The Jazz Couriers In Concert, a red hot live album that captured the most popular British jazz group at its height. This album is so rare, that an original LP commands several thousand dollars in the used market.

The Jazz Couriers, obviously inspired by the super-group with a similar name across the pond, was formed in 1957 when Ronnie Scott (tenor sax) joined forces with the young genius Tubby Hayes (tenor sax, vibes) and a rhythm section led by pianist Terry Shannon. It marked the true birth of hard bop in Great Britain, and the Couriers' popularity skyrocketed.

This exciting album captured the Jazz Couriers in February 1958 when they were touring England alongside Dave Brubeck. The theater was packed with enthusiastic fans, and their collective excitement is palpable. Thanks to the tender loving care of the people involved in this reissue project, the sound quality of this vinyl record is superb. In the past, the LPs from this series have quickly sold out. Order yours before they are gone forever!

Originally produced by Tony Hall for the Tempo label. Recorded at the Dominion Theatre, London, on February 16, 1958. This limited-edition reissue vinyl LP (mono) was released in Japan by Atelier Sawano in April 2010.
